Double Chin HIFU for Men in Ho Chi Minh City
Men in Saigon fasten a helmet strap under the chin at least four times a day. It is a movement nobody thinks about, and it is also the only moment in the day when something touches the under-chin area long enough to be felt.
Most men do not notice that area in a mirror. They notice it with their hands: the strap that used to sit on the third notch now needs a fourth. The top collar button that used to stay done up all day now comes undone by lunch.
This page is written for male clients, and covers the chin and under-chin area: what a session looks like when there is a beard, what it costs, and the three things worth knowing in the first 48 hours. For general information that is not specific to men, the double chin HIFU page covers causes and how the technology works.

Three Things That Touch Your Under-Chin Every Day
A mirror gives you the front angle — the easiest angle of the day. The three objects below do not. They press directly on the under-chin area and tell you something a mirror cannot.
The helmet strap. The most honest of the three, because you use it several times a day for years and always on the same notch. When you need one more notch and your weight has not changed, what changed is the soft tissue under the chin, not the size of your head.
The top collar button. A work shirt is a measuring device with a number printed on it. If your collar size has gone up one step while the sleeves and shoulders still fit, the change is in the neck and under-chin area.
A face mask. The top edge crosses the cheekbones; the bottom edge sits exactly on the chin–neck border. Many men say they notice this area most clearly when taking a mask off in a lift mirror.
None of these three causes a double chin. They are measuring devices — ones you have been using daily without noticing. If you want to know whether what you have is fat or loose skin, our article on telling a double chin from a sagging jawline covers how to tell them apart.
The Under-Chin Area Is Larger on Men, and It Has Its Own Border
When we work on the under-chin area for a male client, the biggest difference is not depth. It is surface area and how the area is mapped.
A larger area. The distance from the chin down to where the neck starts to fold is usually longer on men, and the width between the two jaw angles is greater. The same 250–300 shots spread across a bigger area, so the session spends its time covering the whole area rather than layering passes on one small spot.
A border you can see. This one works in your favour. The shave line is a real line on the skin, and it sits almost exactly where the treatment area ends. With male clients the practitioner has a visible landmark to work to — something that has to be estimated by hand on female clients.
That is why the under-chin area on a man is rarely done halfway. Either the passes run from the chin all the way down through the area, or it is better not to start — doing half of it leaves a visible border in exactly the place people look.
Three Situations That Lead to a First Session
You have had your jawline done and the area below has not caught up. The jawline tightens first; the under-chin area changes more slowly because it is a separate area that needs its own passes. If you have already had HIFU jawline definition for men and now want the area below dealt with, the consultation works out what is left rather than starting over.
You noticed it through an object, not a mirror. The strap, the collar, the mask — as above. Men in this situation usually arrive asking "am I imagining this?". An in-person check answers that in fifteen minutes.
You wear a beard and are not sure whether it hides the area or reveals it. A full beard makes the under-chin look heavier under overhead light, but hides the chin–neck border when seen from the front. The result is two contradictory opinions from two different people. A clean-shaven in-person check gives a clearer answer than a photograph — and if what bothers you is along the jaw rather than under the chin, our article on a jawline that looks softer when the skin is not loose has four checks you can run at home.
What a Session on a Bearded Area Looks Like
Before the session: shave the under-chin and neck clean the night before. Not for appearance — so the tip sits flat against the skin; stubble makes the surface uneven and the contact patchy. The other preparation points — alcohol, training, timing — are covered in detail in our article on preparing for HIFU as a man.
The first ten minutes: cleanse, dry, then map the area. With male clients the practitioner works to the shave line and the two jaw angles — two visible landmarks, so marking up is quicker.
During: the chin and under-chin area is covered in passes running from the chin downward. The jawbone sits closer to the surface here than at the cheeks, so the pace is slower and there are more passes. The whole area takes 45–60 minutes.
Straight after: the under-chin area looks slightly flushed and may feel a little tight when you tilt your head back. No dressings, and no need to change anything in your day.
The First 48 Hours: Helmet, Mask, Collar
General aftercare — sun, sauna, heavy training — is covered separately. This section is only about the three things a man in Saigon puts against that area every day.
The helmet strap. On the first day, loosen it one notch beyond your usual setting, or use a half-shell helmet if you have one. Not because it is dangerous, but because an area that has just been treated feels tight under constant pressure. From the second day most clients go back to their usual notch.
A face mask. The bottom edge presses on exactly the area that was treated. For the first two days, choose ear-loop masks rather than a band that goes behind the head — the behind-the-head type pulls the mask tighter against the skin.
Your collar. If your work means a buttoned collar and a tie, choose a shirt half a size looser the day after. This is also why many clients book a Friday afternoon.
Frequently Asked Questions About Double Chin HIFU for Men
How soon after a session can I fasten a helmet strap as usual?
You can wear a helmet the same day. Just loosen the strap one notch beyond your usual setting on the first day, because an area that has just been treated feels tight under constant pressure. From the second day most clients go back to their usual notch without noticing a difference.
I wear a face mask all day for work. Does that matter?
It does not affect the treated area. One small point: for the first two days use ear-loop masks rather than a band that goes behind the head, because the behind-the-head type pulls the mask tighter against the under-chin area.
If I treat the under-chin area but not the jawline, will it look uneven?
No, because the two areas run in different directions — the under-chin is a horizontal plane, the jawline is a curve along the side. What to avoid is treating half of the under-chin area, not treating the under-chin without the jawline.
My beard is much thicker under the chin than on the cheeks. Does that change anything?
Only one thing: shave clean the night before rather than that morning. Shaving close right before a session leaves the skin sensitive; shaving the night before gives it about ten hours to settle.
I have already had my jawline done here. How is the under-chin area priced?
Cost follows the area actually covered in that session. Because your jawline has already been treated, the practitioner works out how much of the under-chin area is left at the consultation, rather than charging by default for a whole new area.
Does the under-chin area need more sessions than other areas?
There is no fixed rule by area. What is different here is surface area — within one session the passes simply run longer. How many sessions depends on the individual case and is discussed after an in-person check, not decided in advance from a photo.
