How deep does facial HIFU go?
Facial HIFU devices may offer cartridge depths such as 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.5 mm, and the available options depend on the device. The right choice depends on the area, your tissue thickness and your personal goals.
Is deeper HIFU more effective?
Not necessarily. Deeper is not automatically better, and the same cartridge is rarely suitable for every face or every area. Facial structure and tissue thickness vary from person to person, so the selected depth should match the area being worked on and its tissue condition.
Is 4.5 mm HIFU always used for facial lifting?
No. A 4.5 mm cartridge delivers focused energy to a deeper tissue level, but it should not be applied across the whole face by default. Areas with thinner tissue may be better suited to a shallower cartridge.
Does HIFU reach the facial muscles?
Some cartridges are designed to reach deeper supporting tissue, including tissue near the SMAS layer. It is not accurate, however, to say that HIFU works directly on the facial muscles.
Which HIFU depth is used for the neck?
There is no single depth for every neck. Skin thickness, tissue distribution and the relationship between the neck, chin and jawline should all be assessed before a cartridge is selected.
Does the number of lines matter as much as the depth?
Both matter. Depth determines which tissue layer receives the focused energy, while the number of lines and where they are placed determine how evenly that energy is distributed across the area. A plan with the right depth but too few lines may feel underwhelming.
